Pet transport South Africa

Who moves pets overseas, or flying with dogs in South Africa? One such pet carrier company is Animal Travel , but there are many – look for the oldest and most respected animal travel companies in South Africa, they will have all the necessary experience and overseas contacts to move an animal by aeroplane.  International moving shipping companies can often recommend an animal freight company. The more years they have been in business the more experience in flying dogs and cats around the world they have. They will have built solid relationships with partners overseas. And without good partners in the country you are flying your pet to, things can go wrong. A good pet travel company will transport any kind of pet or animal anywhere in the world. Whether you have an exotic parrot or a dangerous snake – they will be able to advise you on the host countries rules and regulations – and then tie up all the details so you pet has a hassle free journey.

No matter what cat breeds or dog breeds – they will know what kind of animals are allowed into a specific country – for instance – pit bulls are not allowed into Australia – the dog will be put down immediately upon arrival! Every country has it’s own set of regulations – so do your homework if you plan to transport your pet without a pet travel agency to help you (or if you are flying with a dog). You will need to buy a pet box for your pet – smaller pets can travel in plastic dog boxes or cat boxes – but plastic pet transport boxes are not available in large sizes – you will need to have a wooden box made up for you. Pet crates for overseas travel have to conform to IATA regulations – this regulation specifies the size of the box, the thickness of the wood used for the wooden crate and how the mesh is attached.

The large pet crates must have place for a pallet truck to pick them up – and there must be a way to give the animal water without opening the pet crate up. All IATA approved boxes must have handles (rope or wood) on the sides of the boxes so that airport personal can easily pick up the wooden box. If the dog or cat is going overseas the pet crate will need to be fumigated (if it is made in wood) or treated. This is because wood can carry worms and parasites – just like your pet (which will also need to be inoculated and have certain shots like rabies etc. – again, every country has it’s own requirements. Certain breeds of dogs and cat breeds are forbidden in some countries – so check with customs, or a pet carrier, what is allowed and not allowed. Dog airlines in actual fact do not exist – pet flights and dog flights are all done through a standard airline company – You would be advised to use an airline that allow pets – most of them do though. The dog air fare will depend on the size and weight of the dog … and the destination. Airdog companies specialise in flights for dogs and will know what shipping a dog by air will cost.
